PISCO national beverage of Chile

Pisco (PEEZ'-coh) is a clear brandy distilled from the moscatel grape. Known as the "bebida del sol" (drink of the sun), the word originates from the Quechua word for "flying bird". Both may well derive from experiences over time immemorial with imprudent intake of this potent drink.

Was wondering if anyone else has enjoyed this drink? Can you buy Pisco at your local liquor store? Do you have your own recipe for a pisco sour?

HAL served some very nice pisco sours when we did our Rio-Seattle cruise.:p

My recipe: Mix 3 oz. pisco, 1 oz. lemon juice (fresh), and 1 tspn. sugar with chopped ice and shake. Properly prepared, it is smooth, sweet and perilous. I serve mine in a chilled champagne glass. Salud!

Interested in hearing from those that have enjoyed the national beverage of Chile. Happy Sailings...Leslie Swiger
