Poble Espanol in Barcelona - worth it?

Recommended Posts

I'd be most interested in any input from those who have visited this place.

I have been there a few times and to be honest I enjoyed each vist.If you are not going to see much of Spain you will get a feel for the country as each section has it's own architecture of a different region of Spain.A big plus are the craft shops that you will find as the artisan's make their own craft's and you will not find them in the stores in Barcelona per se.We had some delightful meals there as well. So,yes, IMHO it is worth it.

My visit was in 1984 but I remember it for the reasons above: it was essentialy a minitour of spain.

I bought a beautiful watercolor there for 20 dollars which still hangs in our foyer.

We were the first ones in and rather enjoyed the "deserted film set" quality. Stayed there a couple of hours and really enjoyed the architecture, little shops, cafes and art gallery. It was bigger than we expected. From there a pleasant short walk to the palace where the fountains are- though I read they are switched off in the daytime now because of a drought. If you have been to Barcelona before, this made a pleasant change to be in a "village" rather than a city setting. If not, there are more important sites to spend your time.
