1st time on DCL

Our travel agent emailed me with a great deal on the Wonder out of Galveston. Verandah on deck 7 for $899 per person. It is just my husband and me and thought this was a great price. We have done Royal and Norwegian but are willing to give Disney a try. We both love Disney, I am a retired cast member from the Disney Stores, and travel to Disney often.

We have never tried the cruise line because of the cost, even with a CM discount. This price is good for October and November. I know it is hurricane season, but I don't mind.

Any help you all can give me is appreciated. I also know nothing about going out of Galveston.

$140 a night (including taxes) per person is a pretty good deal for Disney. If you like WDW you should really like DCL. There are plenty of adult only activities/areas. Many people have posted how there isn't a great deal of late night activities for adults and of course, no casino. If those things don't matter to you, I would go for it.

Be sure and go to the Roll call section here for Disney and look for your cruise date. Post there to get aquainted with others on your cruise. If you dont see your date then start a thread for it yourself and others will find you.

Meeting others before your cruise is fun and then usually you schedule a face to face meet on board. It really adds to the excitment of the crusie and chatting about the cruise with others gives you a lot of tips and information.

Is the Galveston Port Driveable <--new word! for you and your husband?

If you have to fly in, there are 2 airports in Houston, IAH (George Bush Intercontiental) and Hobby, I believe Disney has stop DCL transfers from Hobby by the time your cruise is, I don't really know about IAH, your TA should find out about that.

We cruised out of Galveston last September, but we drove because we are an hour out of Galveston, HAD a great time, and booked our third cruise for October on the Fantasy, can't wait!!!!

Wow that is a great deal. We paid $5000. for three of us (inside cabin) out of NYC last summer  I think you should go for it.

Sailing from Galveston is a breeze! If you can fly into Hobby airport it is a lot closer than Houston Intercontinental, but it is small and doesn't have the same amenities. The discount airlines like Southwest fly into Hobby and the cab ride or ship transfer is shorter and cheaper. It will take you about 35min? from Hobby and just over an hour from IAH.

We just did the Disney Magic and didn't care for it and we are HUGE Disney World fans (just us two adults-no kiddos), but maybe the newer ship they are bringing in will be nicer. The staff and food were outstanding if that counts for anything. Just felt the ship atmosphere seemed cheap. Lots of people love that ship though, so you may as well! Have fun!
