One or Two People Bringing Luggage for the Group?

We sail out of New Orleans next week and our hotel is a close distance to the port. I am an early riser which means I usually get kicked out of the hotel room by my wife and kids for making too much noise in the morning. Is is possible for one or two members from a group of 8 to grab a taxi and fill it with 8 bags to drop off at the port in the morning? We would probably keep 1 or 2 to drop off when we check in to pack the mornings cloths. This would allow us to walk to the port without dragging suitcases. How early can you drop off luggage?
