Best time to arrive at pier in Galveston

We will drive to Galveston this Sunday. We are debating on leaving earlier and get there 11am-12pm or a bit later and get there 1pm or so. What time is BEST to avoid the bulk of the crowd??? Thanks!!

We try for 11:00. I don't want traffic or a flat tire to make me late. The crowd seems to be about the same from 11 to 1. We enjoy lunch and maybe some pool time.

We got there at 11:30 and had to stand in line for 30 minutes just to get in the door of the terminal and then another 20 minutes or so in the security line. We will go earlier when we sail the Navigator for New Year's.

We head to the pier at 10:30 am and drop our luggage. Then we park the car and walk back to the cruise terminal to check in. By 11am, the crowds start building.

It depends... When we went in the fall we arrive at 11:00 and lines were very long. They were late getting the return folks off. When we looked later there was no line.

It can go both ways. We have arrived at 10:45 and been on the ship by 11:00. Other times we arrived at 10:45 and waited over an hour to get on board.

 

I can tell you that if the ship is just returning from the Roatan/Belize/Cozumel itinerary, it will take quite a bit longer for the disembarkation process. This is because of high amount of smuggling problems with Honduras leading to increased scrutiny of off loaded baggage.

 

Irregardless, the earlier you get on the ship, the earlier you get to start the relaxation process! :D
