DaveFr Posted April 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Will I be able to cash American Express U.S. dollar traveler's checks on board the ship? If so, will there be any fees for this service? Thanks for your help. You will be able to cash traveler's checks on board the ship without any fees. There are two alternatives that might work for you. Every passenger is entitled to get $400 per cruise from the Purser without any fees. The cash advance goes on your account as a purchase but it does not offset any OBC you might have. It will not show as a cash advance on your credit card account. The other alternative is to purchase OBC from Regent prior to your cruise. The OBC you purchase will be refundable so you can go to the Purser and cash out the OBC you purchased. Hope this helps.
onamountaintop Posted April 6, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 6, 2013 This does help. I had read the posts regarding the $400 per passenger being applied to credit cards and plan to use this service in addition to cashing traveler's checks. Your information about pre-purchasing OBC was very interesting. I can imagine it would be a great way to handle your cash needs on long cruises. Thanks again!
