StTKCruiser Posted April 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2013 Has anyone recently taken the bus from Philipsburg to Marigot? Is it worth the few dollars & time vs just catch a taxi? Thanks-
Zena2005 Posted April 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2013 We took the bus. It was $2 p/p one way. The cabmay be a few minutes faster but not much and it will cost $25 each way.
StTKCruiser Posted April 9, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks for the follow-up. Where do you catch the Bus in Philipsburg? How often does it run? Is there one bus that goes directly to Marigot? Or are there a few stops along the way?
Zena2005 Posted April 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2013 We caught the bus on Back Street near the town square. If you take the water taxi from the cruise ship, the dock is roughly the at the town square on the Boardwalk, two streets back is Back Street. You will all the taxis lined up in this are. walk past them to Back Street and you will see a bus stop sign. The bus (large van) will have a sign that says Marigot-Phillipsburg. It will make a few stop along the route to Marigot. There is basically only one road to Marigot. We probably only stopped 3 times. If no one is at a designated stop, the bus keeps going. Pending traffic it may take 15-20 minutes. The buses run about every 15 minutes or so. We were pretty lucky both ways...we walked up and the bus was there. If you are planning on lunch, I would recommend Tropicana. The bus will drop you off less than 1 block from Marina Royale. http://www.sxm-marinaroyale.com/
