Check in in Seattle

This may have been addressed and may be in another location....

Is there a VIP area in Seattle to check in? Also, is NCL not printing VIP on the luggage tags anymore? We all have suites but didn't see it on there as I have before. What time would u suggest arriving at the port for checking? Thank you in advance for your help.

When we were on the Pearl last summer there was indeed a VIP and Suites check-in desk outside of the terminal building. It was located to the right of the baggage drop off area and to the left of where the luggage porters ran their carts from the curbside drop off area. It was simply a table with a sign behind it. There some nice ladies checked off your names and escorted you in small groups directly to the head of the security line. We went through as a group and then were taken upstairs to the suite lounge - which is to the left of the regular check-in. Here we all sat down and were offered treats while our onboard accounts were being set up. The concierge was going around the room introducing himself. Because they bring you here in small groups, there is little or no waiting time in the lounge and we were quickly escorted to our suite and then to Cagney's for lunch. From there we were free to explore the ship until our suite was officially ready for us.

The luggage tags that came in the welcome kit had our names, room number and had "priority" on them. Remember that even though they say that, you will probably not get your bags any earlier than any one else in your area. Also the higher decks seem to get theirs first. Also we were in an SF suite and not in the Haven - things may be different there. Be sure to have anything you might need up and including dinner in you carry-ons.

I think the fact that you got luggage tags in the mail says you are VIP. :)

I like the idea that they have a list of names. I was wondering about that myself after getting my Edocs printed I noticed it doesn't say anywhere on there that the room is a suite category! On my last cruise on RCCL out of Ft. Lauderdale there was a port agent checking all paperwork before allowing folks in the suite line. I had booked an OS and two insides. Unfortunately my OS designation was dropped from my paperwork due to some glitch in the system when I signed for my kids in the insides. Despite having the proper room number he refused to let us in the line as we didn't have an OS designator on our paperwork. I had to dig through tons of my paperwork while standing in the super long regular line (about 10 mins as I was pretty furious) to find out that my DH who had his own ticket contract DID have the OS on it. So, it made me a bit nervous in reading the edocs to see there was no stateroom category on there. I'm feeling better now that they have a list of names, lets hope I'm on it since we booked so late. I really don't want anything I could prevent to go wrong!

Take a Sharpie and write it in big letters on your eDoc. :)

Thank you for the information on what to expect at Pier 66 in Seattle. It just makes it easier to know where to go. I once had a OS and missed going to the Suites Waiting area and ended up on the Pearl but I notified the Reception Desk and my Butler came and took us on a tour of the ship and to our Cabin and then to Cagneys. From that time on I look for someone to give out the information of what to do. :D

I wish I could have! I was about ready to mark it on that man's forehead:mad:. I realize he was just doing his job, (and that he didn't work for RCCL, but rather the Port Authority) but he should have been educated that this could be an issue and he should be able to recognize the suite numbers or at least ask further questions, or even ask someone else to assist me in determining if I truly did have a suite. Before we were even asked what type of room we had we were shoved into the regular LONG LONG LONG line and it wasn't even till I got close enough to the entry that I realized we DID have a piece of paper that showed our OS status and tried to get into the proper one. Honestly, it was not a good way to start my vacation. Like everyone else, I work hard for my money, and when I spend a substantial (at least for me) amount of money for "perks", I want value for my dollar. I want to get what I was promised. Honestly, I think in that case even an apology from the guy would have gone a long way to cooling me off about it. So I like the fact that it appears NCL is actually pulling a list of Passenger NAMES as opposed to relying on the paperwork. I think that goes a long way to showing how much they value their promised services and it's one reason why we will only cruise NCL if we are wanting to stay in a suite. I'll still cruise RCCL despite the debacle at the port, but I doubt I will pay for any suites in the future as I am hesitant that I will get any value for my extra money besides room space.
