Has anyone done the Snuba excursion through Carnival. My husband really wants to try it out. Any information and/or experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks.

My wife did not like the dive company that carnival uses. She said the dive master was not attentive and unhelpful. She said she did not feel safe with them since the dive master was ahead of the group and looking in rocks rather than at the divers.

My wife dives all over the world and says the location they had was not as good as those in cozemel.

A friend said that Redsail dive shop is really good, with a great location. However they do not promise to have you back by 12:15 (she booked through carnival because we had a dual excursion day to sting ray city, they place was 1 hour late getting her back to the pier) but if you do not have two excursions on the same day i would not worry about the time.

Did you try the Snuba? We were thinking about that excursion but we haven't heard much about it. any info woule be helpful

We did CCLs snuba in Barbados for $99. Others on the dive boat that booked privately got it for $55. It was well run but a little tricky to do. We thought the air hoses would get us tangled but they didn't, crew saw to that. Groups of 4 have their hoses attached to inflated air platforms, and the platform follows you as you snuba along. Of course all 4 have to want to go in the same direction. You have to blow your ears every 3 or 4 feet down or the pressure is painful. If you want to stop you just go up and hold onto the raft. The crew have scuba tanks on and guide you along. They teach you signs to use underwater. They said women are better at following instructions and getting the hang of it, and sure enough the only one on the tour to freak and quit was a guy, his wife/partner did fine, and a young teen boy did fine. They took us over some old wrecks and reefs, interesting. We have underwater photos of it on the Net if you want the link.

We did the snuba in Grand Caymans a couple years ago through Carnival and thought it was fine. When we did it, you left from shore. They made you pass a little test and then you swim out before you start the 'snuba' part. We just got back from a snuba excursion in belize (through carnival) and this was AWESOME! You went from the boat, so less 'swimming' and the coral/fish were much more impressive.
