Balcony on TransAtlantic ?

Recommended Posts

We were on the port side of Independence traveling from Ft Lauderdale to Southampton in April 2009. Here is a midday picture from our balcony on deck 9 [9656] during one of the many sea days as we were headed in a more or less easterly direction from the vicinity of Bermuda to the Azores. You can see the angle of the sun by the ship's shadow on the water. We loved the cabin and balcony, but we are not sun bathers either. Our overall route was Ft Lauderdale - the Azores - Madeira - Vigo, Spain - Southampton. I don't recall ever feeling uncomfortable on the balcony in my shirtsleeves.

Excited to see this! I am on Independence May 2014 from Ft. Lauderdale to Southampton on the port side - room 9576. This gives me an idea of what I will see from my room. Thank you! I am super excited.

Great Picture!

I would guess you took the picture in the morning? Were you all day in the shade or did the sun come around in the afternoon?

Did our first TA last year and had a balcony. Used it every day. We are doing our 2nd TA in November and have booked another balcony cabin...just can't imagine 16 nights without one. As has been said, if the cruise is port intensive, then a balcony is not as necessary.
