chm1219 Posted June 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2005 Mike, I've seen "not so good" comments about the HIE on 84th. Many others recommended the HIE on 17th downtown. Maybe you should try it instead. Carol
mii Posted June 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2005 May I suggest putting this question on the Hotel pre-post board. There are some posters who live in Ft. Lauderdale and they have a wealth of info over there. Marilyn
arlenemilt Posted June 21, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2005 If you want the Holiday Inn facility, I suggest you stay at the one on 17th St. This one is near the port with lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Arlene
cruiseapril Posted June 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2005 The Holiday Inn Express 17th is fine, but located on a very busy boulevard. We stayed there post-cruise. It is not scenic or quiet there.
earljr Posted June 21, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2005 Hi all - DW and I stayed in the Holiday inn express on 84 when we did our Carib. Princess b2b in May. We think it was excellent. We stayed for 3 nites prior to the cruise and one nite post cruise. We drove over from our home on the west coast of Fl. They allowed us to park our car for free for the 14 days we were on the cruise. Important to us. It was more expensive than the Amerisuites or Renissance or other hotels close to the pier but the parking was important. DW advises that the mattress was to die for!! A nice pool and they have cookouts a couple nites a week with free beer and wine. I think it is Mon thru Thurs. Breakfast is nothing special. Danish, cereal, fruit, bagels, etc. Clean, well maintained and friendly staff. A strip mall across the street with food, booze, super market, etc. Excellent German rest. within walking distance as well a a couple pizza places. Shuttle to the port and return is free. We are retired and travel quite often so we do appreciate nice places like the Holiday Inn Express, if only they would drop the price a bit !!!:D
arlenemilt Posted June 21, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2005 Question: If Holiday Inn was more than Amerisuites, why did you stay there? You can park your car free at Amerisuites; forever! And, the location is better. Arlene
earljr Posted June 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Arlenemilt - Last minute decision on our part to drive over to FLL. No room at the Inn as they say. We are staying at the Amerisuites for our Sept. and Nov. cruises however. We have read a couple of stories on the threads about bad experiences lately but will not pre-judge and along with other fellow cruisers keep our reservations at Amerisuites. arlenemilt Posted June 23, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Can't imagine bad experiences; will not search; not worth it. We're happy there; use them often for very early flights out of FLL. Check in day before, have dinner locally, leave car, fly out, come back, get car, go home. No stress; easy peasy. Arlene
