bremmerh Posted June 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2005 We are looking at the Hawaii Christmas cruise that leaves from LA in Dec just wondering what the temps will be like in LA leaving and returning? Also what do you think the ocean will be like-Smooth/rough? Thanks for any help.
H20 Lover Posted June 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2005 We can 90 degree days on Christmas or 60 degree days. Ck weather.com before you leave, that's the only assurance whether to wear shorts or sweater. I'm serious.
suziehmkr Posted June 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2005 If you are wanting to book this cruise, you should decide pronto. It is filling up quickly. To get more information on past experiences, check the Princess boards and do a search for Hawaii Island Princess. There were some EXCELLENT reviews earlier this year before she headed off to Alaska. In short, expect cool to cold two days out and the last two days back. It will also be a little rough until we pass over the continental shelf. Again, read the past reviews. Also - if you do book, be sure to join us on our roll call!
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Ditto on the above posts. This year, LA had its second rainiest season ever (and came close to breaking the record). So, if you're planning on any pre or post-cruise time here, follow the scouting principle of being prepared. Sometimes our December temps range from the 50s to the 90s, depending on which way the wind blows, literally. The coastal temps are more moderate than inland so if you stay in San Pedro, Long Beach, Marina del Rey, etc., expect from the 60s to the high 70s. I've been reading that the first couple of days are rough (might actually bring motion sickness remedies for the first time ever). The holiday cruises tend to fill up early (the kids are out of school then). We tried unsuccessfully to book this one for Dec. 2003. If you do chose the Island, come aboard our roll call. From what I've read, the CD will help arrange a CC party.
