Jewel Haven

Ok, I've gotten a couple of nasty, well maybe not NASTY, more like condescending responses to my original threads, so I thought I'd start over.

The reason I'm here: To get all of your wonderfully, experienced opinoins!!

Why I ask: I have only curised one time in the past and to a totally different destination.

So - Here Goes: I'm cruising on NCL Jewel to Alaska on June 29th with DH for our 20th Anniversary (which is July 4th) in the Haven, cabin 14014. We also have our best friend couple with us who will be celebrating an anniversary. They did NOT get a Haven cabin. Can anyone tell me all of the benefits of the Haven as opposed to not having a Haven cabin? I've seen so many conflicting reports as to what the perks are. The cruise consultansts also have been very conflicting. My husband booked this as a surprise so I'm just trying to get some of the details figured out. Thanks so much in advance. No snarky replies needed, LoL! :)

Concierge and Butler, and all that goes with that (and that is a LOT!)

Upon boarding on the first day suite passengers are whisked to Cagney's for a special lunch

Cagneys for Breakfast and Lunch, or delivered to your suite

Priority Embarkation and Disembarkation (this is the only perk that you can specify to have your friends attached to you; you can link their reservation to yours)

Mobile Phone that you take with you anywhere to reach your butler

Upgraded mattress, linens, pillows

Fresh Fruit and water in suite

Upgraded soaps, shampoos, etc

Expanded room service menu

Reserved seating at shows (no need to get there early!)

Cocktail reception with ships officers

Priority boarding on tenders

and so many others that I can't think of off the top of my head.

In your earlier post you mentioned your friends were in a forward suite 9500. Are they still there and is that who your mentioning in this thread? The reason I ask is, if they are in a suite also, you will be able to do many things together. The Haven itself would potentially be the only place that would be a problem. Shows, meals etc. would not be an issue.

Pretty important piece of information there ( Friends in a suite)

The POSSIBLE reason for some not so nice posts is that folks come here often saying they have a SUITE (Haven or not) but their family and friends do not, and they want to SHARE their perks with them.

Nobody is blasting you - they are just sharing a common concern.

I was not expecting to share my Haven perks with my friends. I was just looking to find out what exactly comes with being in the Haven. They made the choice to NOT get a Haven suite, their loss, LOL! :) As I've said, even though they've been very helpful and kind I've gotten conflicting answers from NCL consultants about a few things.

My husband likes a night cap in the evening. Would it be wise to pre order a bar set up? Or will out butler take care of that for us once we are there? I also wanted to get a bottle of wine for our cabin the day we are at sea.. Thanks again for all of your help. I so very much appreciate the time you spend doing this!

Don't let negative responses get you down- wade through them and get the info you need. NCL suite perks are the best. Happy cruise.

Thank you - that was very kind of you to say! It was just someone saying they couldnt understand why I would book the Haven if I had no idea what it was about. They must have just missed the part where I mentioned my husband had done all the research and booked it as a surprise for me! No big deal, it's all good! :D

Your Butler can take care of this for you once you are on board.

Hi:

We were in the Jewel Haven 14010 for the May 8th sailing up the Pacific Coast. The biggest positive for us was the Haven courtyard for the easy access to the pool (although small it was very refreshing) and hot tub. Close one door and open the other and you are there. The roof was opened and/or closed as required and upon request so if you have overcast, cold, rainy weather (which we had on a few occasions) we still had a great area to rest and relax. Very peaceful.

Another great perk for us (we were travelling with two other couples who also had their own Haven suites) was having breakfast and a few lunches served in the Haven courtyard. The waiter in the courtyard was excellent.

Yes, your butler would be able to provide you with a nightcap but that will be at standard bar prices. Although $80 - $100 for a 1 litre bottle you may find per-ordering a bar setup a cheaper option.

You can pre-order wine as a "gift" or opt for one of the wine packages available onboard or, again, I'm sure your butler could do this for you.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Haven!

Yeah, just to be clear, you cannot order the bar set up once you are on board. Must be ordered in advance. Your butler would be able to get you a cocktail if you asked at the regular bar prices, might take a while though, we would normally just go get one. Bar set up includes the booze you order, 3 mixers and garnishes. Enjoy!!

Unfortunately you will not be able to invite your friend to use the amenities in the Haven.

If the concierge is nice and maybe you know him or her from a previous cruise they might make an exception.

I sailed on the Gem 12/31 in the Haven and my friends were in a suite and when we came to the Haven to go to my room some worker up there practically accosted us and threw us out until i told him i was staying there and they were coming to my room. It was rather embarrassing and I never in all the times cruising with NCL had such rude and disgusting behaviour from a crew member. Needless to say my friends did not use the Haven amenities nor did I want them to. They were just coming to my cabin with me escorting them

Go with the haven

I think the upgrade from suite to haven is not traumatic in terms of price

but thats all relative
