SaltwaterTwo Posted June 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2005 Our last cruise was aboard the Celebrity Summit. They had a top notch computer instruction program and internet setup. The courses were MSWord, Excel and Adobe Photoshop plus others. The last time we were aboard the Sea Princess the comuter setup was confined to a very small space and was very expensive. They did not teach any courses. Can anybody please bring me up to date on what Sea Princess offers now?
Ibrasu Posted June 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Hi SaltwaterTwo - sorry for the delay in replying ... we've been looking for our ScholarShip@Sea Course guide but wouldn't you know, it's the one thing we can't find! Anyway, from memory, the courses were much the same as you mention (though without the guide, we can't remember the prices ... just know we thought it was a bit expensive.) There were also a couple of complimentary courses for complete beginners ... along the lines of how to use the mouse etc. The Internet Cafe is fine ... it's unattended but straightforward to use and has printers and cameras (though the latter were not very easy to focus.) There are 16 computer stations in the actual cafe and one or two in bar area/s. The connection is $0.35 a minute (and $1 a page to print) but is sooooooo slow! The Patter says that limited computers will be available during courses but from what we saw, these actually took places in other venues (eg dining rooms in non-meal hours) and utilised lap tops. There usually seemed to be only a handful of participants and they were clearly enjoying themselves. One last oddment ... we are Elite and hence get free access (as indeed do Platinums). Now the connections were not always very stable (as you can see from the long Sea Princess thread elsewhere) so it is possible that when a nearby user told us that she had just lost her connection but 'my relation has gone off with my platinum card' that she was telling the truth. However, on the other hand it might have been a way of attempting to get free access on the sly. A moral problem for us! Hope this has helped, Ibrasu
