Ft. Lauderdale after Allure cruise

Due to flight scheduling, three of us will be spending a Sunday night at Marriott Courtyard Ft. Lauderdale Beach after our Allure cruise in July. Reviews seemed pretty good plus we used points to get a free night. We wanted to be close to the beach since we do not leave the next day until noon. What is there to do in the area that is walkable? We will not have a car and plan on taking a taxi from the cruiseport and then to the airport the next day. Anyone know approx. cost of taxis to get to this area and then to the airport? Any good, non chain resturants, in the area that we should try? Thanks!
