Anyone snorkeled from shore???

We want to snorkel from shore, and I've read that Steps Beach in Rincon is good for that. Can anyone confirm or deny? How far is it from port? Any suggestions for other beaches would be welcome. Thanks!

Rincon is about 95 miles from San Juan - driving time of 2-2.5 hrs.

 

Perhaps one of the other ports would be a better choice to snorkel at.

Unless you do an excursion to a snorkelling beach away from the port area, I think your options are very limited. The ocean is very wavy and not good for snorkelling. There is a small cove beach area in Condado right by the Conrad Condado Hotel. The water is very smooth and swimmable there and I have seen people snorkeling there. I haven't snorkeled there personally, so I'm not sure how good it is. The beach area is in a very urban area, but is otherwise quite nice. You can grab a cab there for about $10 or a bus for around $1.30 (Can't remember the exact price).

Condado is right next to Old San Juan and is only about 10-15 minutes away by cab. You would jut need to tell the driver to take you to the beach by the Conrad and they will know where to go.
