WASUP Posted June 24, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2005 We signed up for a notification from Princess that we could sail within a 1-2 week timeframe to a cruise near Fort Lauderdale/Miami, how often does Princess email or call the Circle Club members for the chance to cruise, has anyone had Princess call or email them?? THanks
sunprincess Posted June 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2005 I have been signed up for quite some time, and have never been called for this. Have heard the least amount of time needed gives you a better chance, but, ?? no calls yet.
arlenemilt Posted June 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 24, 2005 Never been notified and I'm almost as close as you are Wasup. And, I'm also Elite, so they should know I love them. :) Arlene
jimbug Posted June 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2005 I get last-minute emails all the time. Does your spam blocker filter them?
arlenemilt Posted June 24, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2005 Maybe they figure you're coming in from Oklahoma faster than we are from Palm Beach County. :D No. No spam blocker. Arlene
WASUP Posted June 24, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted June 24, 2005 I have a spam folder that every time I log on to AOL it asks me if I want to open the spam folder and I do and then show the subjects and then delete the spam that I am not wanting. I have not seen any from Princess
Druke I Posted June 24, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 24, 2005 Princess e-mail notifications seem to be hit and miss. I'll get several in a row - and then hear nothing for a couple of months.
zonicruiser Posted June 27, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2005 Our Princess emails go in spirts. We booked one month out from our first scheduled trip in Alaska from one of our emails. Had Princess book airfare, transfers, everything through their agent for an inside cabin. Received an upgrade the week before our sail date to an outside window, same floor. Three days prior to sailing, we receive a call asking for volunteers with flexibility in travel dates. Our sailing was overbooked. We received an upgrade to a double balcony and ship board credit of one cruise fare. Air was re-booked, now 3 legs to get home. We are thrilled and have booked some great excursions. This will be our third cruise with Princess. Go figure. Good Luck,

I am surprised Princess would send out the last minute deals and then overbook it. We received the same email but did not jump on it due to we could not find award seats to ANC, and I really dont want to spend a lot on airfare as we just came back from a 14 day Panama crossing on Summit in early May. The ideal itin would be for us to do back to back Vancouver, but there is no North Bound on sale. It did not even occur to me to check with Princess directly regarding the possibility of North Bound, as well as the airfare ! :-(
zonicruiser Posted June 28, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2005 nho9504 We were surprised also. Our airfare thru Princess, from Phoenix to/from Vancouver/Anchorage was $599. I could have saved us $50 each doing it myself, but..... we have experienced to many delays in our flying days. Wouldn't want to miss the ship, so I let Princess book us. When I book myself I always tag on extra days at either end just to be safe. Our reschedule coming home is up to 3 legs: Anchorage to Vancouver to LAX to Phoenix. LAX isn't a big deal to us, we're from so. cal.

Hence the idea of doing back to back - the airfare can easily pay for one leg and award seats to YVR could be found, and SEA was definitely available ... though if using SEA it would incur some transportation between SEA and YVR. We have relatives at YVR, so we actually would go few days early and leave few days late. Incidentally, we were in Phoenix/Scottsdale early May. We tagged on an 8 day landtrip after we disembarked at San Diego. Drove to Scottsdale, and then to Grand Canyon and nearby parks/monuments, back to San Diego via Las Vegas and LA. So a total of 22 days away from home - another reason why I did not want to fly a long way and only do a 7-day cruise so soon ... I imagine Princess put you on Alaska Airline. If so, it is fine. I like AS.
zonicruiser Posted June 28, 2005 #12 Share Posted June 28, 2005 Hope you enjoy Az. In early May you got to see some of the best wildflowers Az has had in years. Of course we are now paying for it with all of the wildfires in the deserts. Our forests should have an easier time this summer. Thanks for taking the detour to visit us. "Zoni" PS It is what the locals call us in San Diego. We visit San Diego several times a year to re-hydrate.:D
cattman Posted June 28, 2005 #13 Share Posted June 28, 2005 "Last minute" emails are regional(like regional fares), and target specific geo and demo graphics, based on some mystic formula known only to the highly paid marketing specialists at Princess... Just as puzzling as the Captain's Circle mystery - a husband and wife have the same CC #, A & B. Yet I've seen instances where the B number brings up a different fare than the A number! And this couple has always and only cruised together!

Both were inside offers but we did get upgraded to an obstructed window on the Dawn. You might be limiting yourself with the Fort Lauderdale/Miami only selection. I have signed up for almost all ports of departure, and the offers I have gotten have come from a raft of different ones and covered the waterfront. I live in Northern California which might be one of their targeted areas. My brother lives in Southern California and we constantly let each other know when we get an offer. He gets many of the same I do, but there are some I get and he doesn't. I also find a lot of the offers are repositioning cruises and / or more than 7 days. Only five were seven day cruises.
