lah66 Posted June 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2013 We are planning our February post cruise tour of NO. I can probably get DH through one or two Historic Home tours in the FQ. Which of the four in the FQ are considered the Top 1 or 2? 1850, Gallier, Herman Grima or Beauregard Keyes? We love history, I love old homes, furniture, antiques etc. Thank you for your advice! jgmpuma Posted June 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Herman Grima would be my choice. The tour brings to life what the Frence Quarter was like in the 19th century.
lah66 Posted June 30, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted June 30, 2013 I have read a bit more that the 1850 is like 5 museums in 1.. They have Katrina, Mardi Gras etc...have you been there? Maybe 1850 and Hermann Grima then! thanks for the advice! Lauri
jgmpuma Posted July 1, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2013 They are all worth seeing, if you have the time.
WLHyatt Posted July 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2013 The 1850 house is a state museum, and my mother worked there when we lived in New Orleans several years ago. The museum has changed since she worked there because they had a water leak and it destroyed quite a bit of the historical pieces, but they have reworked it and fixed it up again. I knew what it was like before the water, but I don't know what it looks like now.
