martyap Posted June 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Would love some recommendations for private tours in Florence. We will be there on a Sunday and I'm not sure which is best. Have no real desire to visit Pisa and not sure if I want to chance taking the train from Livorno. Any thoughts or suggestions???? Here are some choices: • Take the "Florence On Your Own" offered by RCCL and walk around Florence for the day. I would pre-reserve tickets to the Uffizi, etc. • Hire a private tour to share with others into Florence. • Hire a private tour and visit Tuscany w/o seeing Florence. Please help me with advice. Thanks, Karen
2forthesea Posted June 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2005 We took the Florence tour that allowed 3 hours on our own. I think it was alled "A Taste of Florence". It was a nice mix. Check and make sure the places you want to go are open on Sunday. I think a tour of the contryside might be a better bet.
fmax Posted June 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Here's link to a thread where people provided feedback on private tours. You can probably check out their websites and see what they provide for each of the cities. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=70375&page=2&pp=25&highlight=driverinrome Frances
Shystermom Posted July 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2005 Are you on our cruise? Looking to share tours w/a couple from NYC? I booked the ship's tour to Pisa, but really want to do Florence. But 9 -10 hours away from the ship seemed like alot to me. Wouldn't mind sharing a driver . . .
cadreamer Posted July 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2005 Did you have any trouble getting a taxi either to or from the train station? We were told that it is hard to get a taxi back to the ship since everyone arrives baack at the train station on the same train. Also, how often do those trains run? Thanks.
