Rosefloater Posted July 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2013 Is there public transportation from the Long Beach pier to the California Science Center? Which routes/lines do we need to take? Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you. Take the Blue line from Long Beach Transit Center to the Pico Station. Transfer to the Expo Line to the Expo Park/USC Station. It will take a little over an hour. You will need to buy a TAP card ($1) and then put money onto it. It is $1.50/leg (= $3 one way) or buy a $5/day pass. Here is the website: http://www.metro.net/. The Blue Line does go thru some not so good areas. But we have taken the Blue Line from Union Station to Long Beach with no problems (even with our luggage:)). You can get to the LB Transit Center by taking the free Passport bus. http://www.lbtransit.com/Services/Passport.aspx Below is a sample trip starting at 9a.m. Monday from the Blue Line. Starting at LONG BEACH TRANSIT CENTER Ride Metro Rail Blue Line [LOS ANGELES] From: TRANSIT MALL STATION Lv: 09:09AM To: PICO STATION Ar: 10:05AM Pay $1.50, TAP card required to board Ride Metro Rail Expo Line [CULVER CITY STATION] heading south From: PICO STATION Lv: 10:19AM To: EXPO PARK USC STATION Ar: 10:28AM Pay $1.50, TAP card required to board Ending at CALIFORNIA SCIENCE CENTER
SadieN Posted July 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2013 If you use the $5 all day pass you still need to 'tap' for each leg of your trip. FYI- Don't know your age but Senior rates are only valid if you have a Senior Metro card. Took Mom over 6 weeks to get hers. The Passport bus stops in the middle of the Queen Mary parking lot under the trees.
