WC Access. Two Bedroom Suites?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there are any two bedroom wheelchair accessible suites? I'm partial to Princess, but for this particular vacation I don't care what line we go with. Before I even think about price or location, I'm trying to find out what even exists and I'm burned out scouring every web site. I'm not interested in adjoining cabins this time, a suite would be better for this adventure.

I've seen some video and photos of RCCL accessible sky (or crown, not sure) loft on the 17/18th floor that had its own elevator to the 2nd floor, but it only has a pull out couch downstairs. I wonder how comfy that thing is? It's so discouraging looking into accessible rooms as they are usually configured towards couples. Any info would be wonderful! Thanks in advance!!!

Really don't think that you're going to find any 2 bedroom accessible suites on any cruise line. Reason being that cruise lines don't want to give up all that space that's required for the wheelchair that would have to be provided for in a 2 bedroom accessible suite. Bottom line it's all about revenue.

Does it have to be a suite or will connecting cabins work? If connecting cabins, do both need to be accessible? I know Royal Carribean has connecting HC/non-HC cabins (example is 7114/7116 on Serenade). I am not aware of any cruiseline that has a 2-bedroom cabin that is accessible. Most cruiselines only have two or three 2-bedroom cabins, if any, per ship.

  • 2 weeks later...

My sister is in a wheelchair. We did a b2b on the Oasis and stayed in the Crown Loft Suite, room 1742. It was very nice!!! It has an elevator that goes to the second floor. My sister was upstairs. I slept on the pull out couch downstairs. It was OK on the couch. Since we were going to be on the cruise for 2 weeks, we asked for a mattress to be put on the couch. That was a lot more comfortable. During the day, the mattress was put behind the couch. This room is right next to the Royal Loft Suite. The RCL executives had a meeting there on Sat morning between our cruises. Richard Fain was at the meeting. My sister told him that RCL should have more more wheelchair accessible suites. He said that he would work on it!

It was a nice room. I would recommend it at least once in your life!!

Thanks for that sweetgirl26. I've looked many a time at that cabin!!! Thanks for the idea with adding a mattress to the couch, what a great idea, that couch is what holds me back from really considering that room. I'm glad your sister said something, the industry seems to forget that it isn't always a couple who needs the accessible room.

I am a diamond plus, so I already get the perks that a gold card gets. The only other thing that I got was the double points for this room and there is a suite party that goes with being in a suite. It was a nice party. The Captain, Shrek and Fiona came to it. If there are 4 people that share the expense of the room- go for it. It was nice. You will be spoiled. The room steward, Cherry was wonderful. We had a party on our balconey, she got us cheese and crackers. The head waiter got us shrimp cocktails. It just cost us $$ for tips, to show our appreciation. You won't want to go back to a lower cabin. It is back to the inside cabins for me! I would rather go more often than to have a fancy room. Also, if you do the Eastern route, St Marten is close, you do not have to take the water taxi to get there. My husband pushed my sister there. That was easier than getting her off and on the water taxi. Also, the Oasis is very easy to get around in a wheelchair. The Oasis is my favorite ship. At first I did not want to go on a ship that had so many people but since it is so big, you don't feel them. The CL on the Oasis is wonderful. It has breakfast , lunch with beer and wine. It also has a handicap bathroom right in the lounge! Let me know if you have any more ???
