Beer and Wine Questions

First cruise since the 90s and obviously the first on O. I'm thinking about the House Select package. Are all the wines by the glass available on this package or are there limitations? The current wine list shows glasses that equate to $55.00 bottles, which should be good enough for me. Is the beer also available at the bar or is it limited to meals, like the wine? Lastly, I've seen the beer list shown on the webpage and it's a pretty disappointing bunch of light or light colored lagers/pilsners.:( No dark beers, ales, stouts, or wheat beers and all mass manufactured by the major multinationals. Not a craft or small brewer represented at all. It's like the wine list was all chardonnay with the exception of chardonnay light and all made by the Gallos of the world. Is there any chance of a little more variety on a European cruise?

The wine and beer selections are identical with both packages

Is the beer also available at the bar or is it limited to meals?

Only the Prestige Package includes any kind of service at a Bar

Is there any chance of a little more variety on a European cruise?

Passengers occasionally request that special beverages (i.e. their brand) be stocked for their cruise.

Bonefishbruce, f you enjoy interesting world beers or small craft production you will be disappointed by the O beer offerings. Given the breadth and depth of O's substantial and diverse wine lists, we were pretty taken aback by the apparent lack of attention by O to developing a comparable beer list. O sails in regions of the world where interesting beer has been brewed for centuries, so the oversight in this area was pretty surprising.

The lack of a thoughtfully-sourced beer list did not mar our thoroughly enjoyable recent sailing in Europe (during which we purchased quite a few nice bottles of wine), but an interesting Belgian double or one of the many great craft beers coming out of the Americas and Europe would really have hit the spot at times. Perhaps O assumes their target passenger demographic does not have an interest in craft brews?

For next time, our alcohol 'lesson learned' from the recent cruise was to pack less wine and instead bring aboard some interesting world/craft beers, as those could not be purchased in any ship venue. In any event, O is a fabulous cruise line and almost everyone who has sailed them loves the line - give it a try!

First time cruiser... ever! Is there a way to view the Prestige Package offerings before we purchase? If not... can we cancel the package, once on board, if we find the selection not to our liking?

Oceania phrases it this way:

"The Prestige Package covers everything on the Bar Menu (including all Wine and Champagne which are served by the glass), served anywhere on the ship, at any time when any of the Bars are open."

That said, it is really fairly simple process to sign up for the Package while you are on the ship, so if you still have concerns, I'd suggest doing that.

Hi Deweywis

Go to the O website and click on" Explore Ships, Fine Dining," your ship's name, the main dining room and wine menu. You'll find all the wines available by the glass with prices. You can cross reference them with the full bottle prices to get an idea of the value represented. Jim and Stan have informed us that almost all of the high end spirits are included. You can wait until you board to order the package, which makes sense for us because we have $900 in obc to use up
