hazeleyez3 Posted July 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2013 I have looked all over the British Airways website and am totally confused. My husband and I booked Premium Economy tix and will be flying on BA from Baltimore to Rome, with a connection in Heathrow, and then Venice to Baltimore with a connection in Heathrow. We each signed up for the Executive Club, and also created a household account. My husband had to fly over to India a few weeks ago for work, and flew Business Class - giving him around 26000+ Avios points, and 560 tier points. He will be making a second trip to India in a little less than a month, doubling his current balance and making it to the Silver level. Since our vacation is after his second trip, we wanted to see about using the avios points to upgrade the Baltimore to Heathrow flight, and possibly the return Heathrow to Baltimore flight (we are fine with Premium Economy for the London-Rome, and Venice-London). Is there someplace on the website that explains using avios points for upgrades? The only info I see is the amount needed to book a flight with the points. Also, since we do have a household account, will I get the same priveledges he has (2 free bags, upgraded check-in, lounge access, etc)? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Rare Gardyloo Posted July 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2013 Go to http://www.britishairways.com/travel/spend-avios-flights-rfz/public/en_us and scroll down to the bottom where it talks about "upgrading with Avios." Yes, you'll get the usual perks associated with business class if you upgrade. It's by far (IMO) the best use of Avios there is.
Ex-Airbalancer Posted July 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2013 They do not count the point until you completed the flight I really think you need a lawyer to understand their rules
