Hop on hop off bus Carnival tour

Has anyone ever done the hop on hop off the bus tour in Merida? We did a similar tour in Canada and loved being able to get off and explore and then hop on and go to another area. I don't know that I can convince the group I'm with to book with a private company and this seems like the best tour Carnival provides.

Have not done this , but we,4 of us, got a private cab from the ship to Merida and back for $70 total. It was really good and you can do as you wish. Our driver just waited for us..If I were to go back I would do it this way again. Just an option..:)

Yeah, I've read positive things about doing that. I just don't know if I can sell it.
