Early Saver Question

Ok - so, I booked my cruise yesterday on the Conquest sailing June 1st. Wanted an inside cabin on the Lido Deck - 4 of us in one room. So, I called to book and apparantly there are only 2 cabins that fit 4 people on inside cabins on the Lido Deck.

So, I called the other family we are cruising with and they booked the other cabin ASAP.

So, we booked under Early Saver and our cabin is classified under 4G. When I went to fare viewer today it does not even show 4G on there anymore. Could it be that those 2 cabins are the only ones classified that way and there is no way to get any fare reductions as our class is gone? If so, then I would have booked under Past Guest for the few extra $ and have the flexibility to cancel if need be before final payment.

Anyone know on this? Thanks.

I did a mock booking using 2 guests and Lido inside was still available. However, when I checked for 4 guests Lido inside was no longer available. You may not be able to get any price drops.

I guess that is kind of misleading then. The only reason I booked early saver was to get price drops if available. If I had known that those were the only 2 cabins in that category I would have definitely booked another way.

That was a hard lesson to learn. I truly feel for you.

Were they the ONLY two cabins or the LAST two cabins? If they're not the ONLY two, if someone cancels theirs, it becomes available again for a possible price reduction and as the first response stated, you still have the option to upgrade at a lower rate. Also, you can price match other categories as well if you qualify. For example, if the oceanview or any other higher category gets a prices lower than your rate, you can match it; such as past guest, the casino rate, friends and family or the residence offer. You've got almost a whole yer out, there's plenty of offers that can take place...:):p

When I booked I was told that those are the only 2 cabins on Lido deck that sleep 4 (thought that was unusual). So we and our friends go those 2 cabins. Didn't figure that they had a separate booking category for just those 2 cabins. But, to price match different categories - it would have to be a category higher than a 4G correct?

By the way, what time yesterday did you book this cruise? I wonder if there's a 24 hr. period to be able to make adjustments to your booking? Just a thought.

Well, I just called Carnival. There are other 4G's available but only for 2 or 3 person cabins. There were very few 4G's available with 4 person cabins and only 2 on the Lido Deck (some on deck 10). So, we can only get price drops on 4G's that hold 4 people. ( I guess I figured all 4G's would be the same). So, unless someone moves cabins they are all sold out at this time. I asked if I could switch to past guest rate and she said I could but would have to move cabins as all the Lido Cabins are sold out - well, duh I am in that cabin - so, that didn't make sense.... But, going to stay where I am at. Wanted the Lido deck for the convenience with the kids.

You didn't answer my question about the time of your booking. You might want to call again and ask to speak to a supervisor. I don't know if it would work, but it's worth a try.

I booked yesterday late morning. But, when I asked if I could switch to Past Guest rate then -she said I could but it would be in a different cabin... (she kind of confused me).

sounds like she is kind of confused. Not unusual with most reps that work for the cruiselines.

Why not switch the cabin and then tomorrow switch it back...

Well, I don't want to mess things up. When I booked I put down the $1000 deposit and then also sent in $1200 in Cruise Certificates (from one of DH's credit cards). So, don't want the certificates to get there and then the booking is different...
