What are your "must do" activities ON BOARD?

Recommended Posts

We will be on the Paradise (they do not have the 2.0 upgrade yet) this Sept, and I'm looking over a copy of the April Fun Times someone posted on here. Trying to decide which activities to do. Are there any that you always make sure you do and why?

For example - the art auction - do you get free drinks or have a chance to win prizes just for attending (and not bidding or buying)?

I avoid it like wildfire, it's a waste of time and money ;)

Worst Champagne I've had in my life. I own wine shops. that stuff is about $4.99 retail. Art auctions are a scam. Shop at home for art.

With that said, everything else on the ship is good. Everyone doesn't like 100% of everything on a ship but everyone will find lots that they do like. Me, I love the casino, the dining, the entertainment, and waking up at a different destination every day. What I hate is having to come home.

I try to make it to brunch on ships that serve that. who doesn't love steak and eggs in the morning?

I also love playing the trivia games...music trivia that is.

Since miraculously winning a bean bag toss tournament (i had never played before) i think I will make sure I play that again. I can always use more 24kt gold plastic ship on sticks trophies. lol.

*bingo

*afternoon tea

*brunch

*steakhouse

*watch the sunrise/sunset at least once

*DH & I do a mini photo shoot. We rarely take photos together so while on the ship we take advantage of the photo studio.

*most importantly we relax

Like pp have said there is a ton to do, but you don't have to do it all of in order to have a good time.

That was my cruisepal's pastime, he enjoyed it, the free drinks, never bid on nor bought anything. So, it's not a waste of time nor money if it's that person's enjoyment.

Explore the ship

Afternoon tea time

Lie in the sun on the serenity deck

Get up early once and walk around the ship before anyone else is up

Soak in a hot tub

Have an ice cream

Look around in the shops

Sit in the atrium or promenade and enjoy the music

Relax!

AMEN to that!

I'm planning to do 'that' a lot on my cruise in December! I'm on sick leave till Wednesday and my doctor says I have 'stress'! :p

I think it's because I'm stressing that my cruise is all the way in December! lol :o

Since "Paradise" hasn't had it's 2.0 upgrade yet, be sure to catch the BIG shows. (Especially if cruise director Steve Cassel is back aboard. He's on vacation right now.) 8 More Seconds, and Shout are both very good shows, and feature many, many dancers, and singers, and more musicians than the new shows offer. Also, Steve will play the fiddle (Devil Went Down To Georgia, among other music ) and he is outstanding.

GREAT ship, wonderful food and service, and outstanding entertainment!

No matter what ship I am on, it is a vacation. Some of the things I enjoy are:

  • sitting in a deck chair and watching the wake
  • having a fruity drink
  • enjoying my meals prepared for me
  • desserts every day (sometimes several a day)
  • trying new foods that I don't prepare at home
  • getting soft-serve ice cream when ever I want
  • having warm melting chocolate cake (if on a Carnival ship)
  • room service delivery of coffee in the morning
  • not worrying about calories
  • people watching
  • witnessing at least one sunrise and one sunset
  • taking an afternoon nap
  • experiencing every port (even if I'm just looking around or shopping)
  • taking at least one excursion into a foreign country to be able to see what life is like in that country as compared to the port area
  • going to the front of the ship late one night and looking at the beautiful stars
  • trying my luck at the slot machines
  • enjoying the entertainment provided on board
  • and just chilling without a phone or internet.
