Money in Barbados?

We are planning on going to the Boatyard. Should we pay with cash, and should we use US$ or Barbados money? How about in shops or if we want to hire one of the boats to take us out snorkeling?

Thanks! :)

Both currencies are readily accepted, although $USD is preferred. The exchange rate is fixed at $2BDS=$1USD.

Some vendors may give you back $BDS as change. For small dollar value purchases, you might find $BDS is easier to use (like bus fare).

I wouldn't sweat it - you'll be fine no matter which you use...

Cheers, P:)
