Will there be a rabbi onboard for the High Holidays?

Recommended Posts

We were seated with a rabbi and his wife on a cruise during Hanukah last year. He told us he is registered with an organization that matches clergy with cruiselines or land-based tour groups, and they've traveled all over the world. They provide their own airfare and the cruiseline provides the cabin. His responsibilities included leading special services every evening during Hanukah, as well as an ecumenical service on Sunday morning. He said he's also sometimes asked to counsel with passengers or crew who may need his guidance.

Many of those who are registered with this organization are retired military chaplains. Some cruiselines contract a clergyperson for every cruise (I believe HAL still does this), but most just arrange for someone to be aboard during religious holidays.
