Does my minor child keep his Latitudes Rewards Member Benefits into adulthood.

Recommended Posts

If my son cruises with us as a minor and he gets to say Platinum level...will he keep that status into adulthood? Do minor children even get a Latitudes tier?

I haven't asked in a few years, but last time I did the latitudes rep I spoke to said once they reach 18, past cruises will count towards their level. Just an FYI~Check their numbers on your edocs to make sure they haven't been reassigned new ones. I book through an outside TA, so this happens to us every time. A quick call to NCL is all it takes for them to be reassigned their original numbers.

Don't know about the whole bonus points thing, but something I began doing a number of years ago was to save all the "sail and sign" cards for my son and myself.

As loyalty programs change, who knows what it will be like in another 8-10 years when my son is 18-20. Figure when he is over 18, these cards can help document. I've also started keeping a running word document with reservation numbers.

What really stinks is I pay full 2nd person fare for my son and he has enough cruise days to be platinum and I, the one who has paid for it all, get no benefits for him being at Platinum status. I don't care about the bottles of wine, but the dinner and laundry would be nice. Of course I have my benefits, but if we were a couple (husband and wife) who have cruised together, then both people get the benefits. If it is a Parent and Child, only the Parent gets benefits, even though the child has paid the same cruise fare. Just my 2 cents

That's a very good point!

My DS just turned 18, and a couple of weeks later, his latitudes membership converted right to Platinum. (He had enough points as he has been cruising every year since he was a baby)

If it doesnt happen automatically, a call to the Latitudes Desk should clear it up.

I homeschool my son and we are going to be on the Epic in Europe and then the TA back to Miami in October. I will be on the Epic for over 20 days. I plan on begging the onboard cruise consultant to give me an extra bag or 2 of free laundry for my son. I figure it can't hurt to ask such a thing. I figure, the answer is no by default. Asking can only potentially give me an extra bag of complimentary laundry.

With the length of travels we have planned (about a month) laundry is going to be my issue. I'm a cheapskate and don't want to pay for laundry, would much rather spend the money of fun and exciting things like excursions, martini tastings, casino donations, etc
