New to this board and HAL has us running scared We have been on RCCI, HAL.Costa, NCL.over a hundred days in all and in that order as far as days spent go. We are considering the Zenith 14 days next Jan. or Feb. What should we compare it too if anything We will go for a suite or their CC cabin. Any help will be great.

I'm assuming you will be doing either the Southern or Western Caribbean. We were on the 3/28/04 Western Caribbean.

You will be sailing after the drydock renovations! If you expect wonderful, personal service, then you won't be disappointed. Our waitstaff in the dining room on Zenith knew from the first night who wanted decaf and to bring us extra breadsticks. Our cabin steward was almost invisible, except when we needed him! The ship is older, but should be fresh from the drydock.

We have sailed HAL and, in my opinion, Celebrity has them beat as far as service and quality of food. (Except I like the HAL salad bar at lunchtime -- the best of any ship we have sailed)

Royal Caribbean has more "active" activities and will usually have a younger average age. We enjoyed our Voyager cruise, but the atmosphere is different--not better or worse--just different.

Of course, on the longer cruises, on any cruiseline, you will generally have an older average age. But it's not the age that counts--it's the outlook and the ability to enjoy life!

I have never been disappointed in any of our 12 Celebrity cruises--that's what keeps us coming back.

As far as cabin choice--the suites have more square footage and the CC's are the former category 3's with the added creature comforts sans butler. The cabin size is approx. 170 sq. ft. It depends on what is most important to you--larger cabin size w/butler or regular size cabin with added perks.

Whichever you choose you will enjoy the Celebrity experience.

We were on the Zenith 14-day Western Caribbean cruise from 2/29-3/14/04 and had a wonderful time. Celebrity is our favorite line and we found the ship, service, food, activities, entertainment, cleanliness, cabin, and everything just as excellent as we have always had. We have been on the Zenith, Galaxy, and Century and loved them all. We had a Category 3 cabin (#1040)which now would be a Concierge class I believe. We loved the cabin, the space, the location (midship), etc. All in all, I would certainly recommend this trip to you. Are you going eastern or western? If there are questions regarding the ports on the western itinerary, I'd be glad to respond.

K&K .... We were on a 14-Night on Zenith in January out of JAX and had a wonderful time!

We especially enjoyed:

First & most important -- our fellow passengers . What a great group of folks!

The ship is a perfect size -- not too big & not too small.

Friendly crew who always went out of their way to help and please.

Happy Sailing!

We are headed for our third trip on the Zenith in June. Having never been on HAL, I can't offer any comparison. It is a smaller and older ship, but has always been spotless-the same as every other Celebrity ship we have sailed. I personally like the smaller ship, you will feel like you know everyone by the time you head home. The Zenith was our first cruise with Celebrity-this next trip will be our seventh so that sums up what we think!

You're going to be so spoiled!

I think one of your main considerations is the size of the ship. If you like RCCL's Voyager class ships or something like HAL's Zuiderdam you might find the Zenith very small.

Donuts, is there anything they can't do....

Thanks for all the input. We do not like big ships last year we went on HAL'S Noordam and loved the small town feel to it although we could have had better pax. the Vision of the Seas and Volendam were very nice ships but a little too many people for us.
Quite frankly, I thought the food quality and even the size of the cuts of meat had slipped quite a bit. Do not teel the others on the HAL board!
We are planning the Zenith southern 14 day Feb. 13 Thanks for all of the help once again Kevin
