Essexlass2 Posted August 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Can anyone please enlighten me as to what a Landfall Ball might be? Our cruise has formal nights and the usual Black and White nights as well as 60s-70s and Tropical Nights, but we've never heard of a Landfall Ball before. Do we need to dress differently for this, what on earth is it?

They are not landfall anyway as they are followed by a sea day?

rubydoobydoo Posted August 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2013 I have never heard it called "Landfall" before either but I believe it is exactly the same as a formal night so we should be ok wearing what we wear for that
kersh Posted August 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2013 The majority of PO cruises we have been on have had a landfall ball. It is always the last formal night of the cruise. No different to any other formal unless you are dancers when the dancing is usually to a band rather than CDs. Sue

Not sure which cruises you have been on but on PO Cruises there is always some ballroom/Latin dancing on board. Adonia between shows in the show lounge Arcadia in the Globe after the early show until midnight ish Azura in the Atrium often pre dinner and post early show Oceana in the Atrium various times Oriana in Harlequins after 1st show Ventura now in the Atrium after the refit but no been on the ship since refit so can't confirm Sue
rubydoobydoo Posted August 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Oh I see I misunderstood, sorry, I thought you meant the dancing and band was during the meal like a diner/ dance, we have freedom dining so probably miss the dancing in the atrium. We tend to take hours over our meal each night but we do sit in the atrium and have a coffee there if we can get a seat watch whatever is going on, I would like to watch the dancing

That makes sense - the last formal night of the cruise before landfall at Southampton I guess. Also, we are on a Strictly themed cruise so lots of dancing too methinks. Thanks folks! :D
