bar1986 Posted August 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2013 We will be taking a Carnival Cruise this Dec and want to see the ruins, but would also like to have a couple of hours to enjoy the beach(just a massage and a drink). It looks like Uxmal is beautiful, but will take all day. Is there another set of ruins that could be visited and still have time for the beach? Thanks,
bobnsons Posted August 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2013 I think the Dzibilchaltun tour is only 4 hours.
aideek2000 Posted August 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2013 You can also do the Flamingo and Xcambo with a beach break at Technotel for only $15.00 Check my review named Progreso exceed our Expectations if you want more info. It was nice and we were able to climb the ruins.
JimAOk1945 Posted August 21, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) Yes, an excursion to see Uxmal will take all day. We have been there and really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful site and well worth the time it takes to go there. Edited August 21, 2013 by JimAOk1945
12reca Posted August 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2013 The beach right in Progreso and close to the pier is not very nice, not the typical Caribbean beach. We had to drive around 20 minutes to get to a nice resort so maybe that is why there are not many ruins and AI tours. The cruise ship sponsored beach club (I think it was called Corona beach?) would not be our choice at all, it is right by the pier and the water looked murky. jgr8fulbear Posted October 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2013 I agree with the pp about the beach, if your going to another port (coz) you would be far better making that a beach day and focusing your progreso day on just the ruins or merida, you will have a far better time and get to see what this great little area is all about
huntm Posted November 7, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Dzibilchaltun is nice. You can purchase it with a beach break. They also have a natural swimming hole you can swim in at the ruins... It's awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
