MoPartyHou Posted August 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2013 Sept 16 is Mexico's Independence Day...turns out we make a stop in Progreso. Anyone have any experience arriving in a Mexican port of call on this day? Are shops open? Does everything close down? Thanks!
ccruisequeen Posted August 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2013 Darn we're missing it by two days (Baja is considered a part of Mexico isn't it?)
loxley Posted August 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2013 It is no big deal there. The shops will be open. Any parties will be long after the ship has left.

WisRiver Posted August 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2013 Independence Day (September 16) is a big holiday. Schools, banks, government offices and most businesses will be closed. People come to the beach for the holiday so all of the restaurants, bars and tourist oriented shops will be open. Since this will be a three day weekend, there will be lots of people out and about.
