... but she is allowing for 5 hours of sleep/non-drinking! :D

(misstopgun - just having fun. I understand what you're getting at regarding pacing yourself)

Given how cheep cruising is now, cost of cheers is almost equal to the cost of our upcoming OV next month.

Just an observation, how others spend their money is their choice.

I am positive that they will not make any exception to the rule of 21. I have several friends with disabled but adult children and elderly disabled parents that obviously don't drink, but they can't purchase Cheers.

My sister and I have purchased Cheers on our last 3 cruises and think it's a great value for us. I actually feel less intoxicated since I am more aware of spacing out my drinks.

I come close to or hit the 15 drink limit (and it is a hard limit and they will no longer sell after that limit. It changed after the program 1st came out). I typically start with Bloody Mary's around 10am and drink probably one mixed drink an hour throughout the day and evening until around midnight. I also have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. That alcohol is easily metabolized when drinking that slow.

You mean they won't serve you under the program, or that they won't even SELL you another drink?

As weak as some drinks are which I've received, 15 over the course of many hours may not be as many as it seems.

Having said that... 5 or so in the course of a couple of hours in the casino can be quite strong! When you're having "fun" you can lose track of time (and drink count) and find yourself rather affected!

When the program 1st came out they would assess your level of intoxication and the bar manager would determine if you would continue to be served. But that led to lots of drunk people getting irate when they were cut off. Now it's a hard 15 and they won't even sell you the 16th.

But there are lots of inconsistencies. Like you can buy bottles of wine or top shelf liqours for a 25% discount, so how does that count toward your 15 limit???

Having also always had the On Us card, the Players Club comped drinks are not rung up against the Cheers program so they don't count.

I'm debating if I'm going to purchase it on my next cruise. It's a Premium Casino Cruise and we get the On Us card from the beginning. But not being a big time player like you are, they don't cater to us as much and it's not unusual for it to take almost an hour to get a drink when you're sitting at a slot machine.

I'd skip the program if I were you - and if you employ a generous tip to the bar waiter and let them know right up front that those tips will continue if the service is frequent/prompt, they likely will give you stellar service. On our last cruise Cheryl found a great waiter who happened to be on his first contract. He'd bring a drink for both of us and get a $5 chip. He knew when he returned another chip was coming his way. He did pretty good once we "found" him (2 or 3 others failed to live up to expectations in the early part of the week)! :D

That's exactly what they don't want to happen: each of two guests enjoys 7-8 (which is a fair number), thereby maximizing the savings. That's much "easier" on the average person than one getting to 15 each day.

I asked this same question on here last week Im so glad someone sees it my way... The response I got was where is the Logic in that most wont go over 6 or 7 drinks or get close to the 15 drink limit So Carnival would Lose Money... While we would benefit they would lose

Is Carnival the only line which has this requirement? I know that Celebrity does not.

Does Celebrity trust it's guests more (not to share)?

Tom

Royal Caribbean also has the same rule.

I would not purchase it even if my DH drank enough to make it worthwhile to him as well, which he never will. he prefers soda most of the time.

I don't like the 15 drink cut off. Now I know some will say if you drink more than that you have a problem but think about it.

2 bloody Mary's or mimosas in the morning.

4 drinks by the pool

3 glasses of wine at dinner

2 drinks at the show

4 drinks in the casino

You have reached the limit.

Considering this is stretched throughout the day from 7 am until 2 am you never get inebriated.

Still, DH may drink 3 drinks per day at most if he decides to drink at all, but if I decide to have just one more in the casino or one while playing bingo I would be cut off.

These are sea days. No way either of us could fit that many in on a port day unless we stay on the ship.

When I cruised with a friend on Royal, their package was $5 more per day. I didn't have to worry about being "cut off". It was truly unlimited. I don't know that we every drank 15 per day ( and probably not because the wine choices at dinner were terrible) but I do know that it was nice not having to figure that into the bill because it was prepaid. On Carnival, if you do any math, it isn't worth the price.

3 glasses of wine at dinner...I would NEVER get to the last 6 since I'd either be under the table or passed out in bed.
