Car Rental Marseille

Has anyone rented a car in Marseille and driven to Chateauneuf-du-Pape??

We were going to rent a car in Marseille back in JUne but we ended u[p taking a ships tour instead. We were there on a Saturday and I did notice that there was not much traffic (in the morning as we rode our tour bus) and it was a straight shot from where the ships dock to the highway (toll road) to Les Baux. I wish we had done it as we saw the Palace of the Popes last time along with Pont du Gard (on a private tour) and I was sorry we didn't take our kids this time. It just seemed so difficult to get to the car rental places at the train station but maybe the new shuttle will help? Good luck!
