Weather Question

We are leaving on our 1st cruise Sunday (10 July) on the Miracle out of Tampa and low and behold a #*!@& Tropical Storm . Had the cruise booked for 9 months now and kinda worried about the weather.

 

What is Carnival’s course of action when weather turns ugly like this. Do they Cancel the entire week, get underway a day later (shorten the cruise), get underway and run like heck away from it. Any insight would be appreciated.

They will always make the decision based on "safety". :eek: They may eliminate a port....arrive early or later...or rearrange the itinerary due to the storm. But, rarely - if ever - do they canel totally.

The way it is looking now and if it stays on track, it does not look like it will effect your cruise. We had a cruise booked when hurricane michelle came though. They changed us from the eastern to the western caribbean. When we left port, michelle was passing us, but we were on the back side of it, so it was not to bad. They kept everyone off the decks that night since there were high winds and rough seas. The next morning, things were beautiful and we had a great trip. Hope things work out for you.

If they can (Storm not at port of departure), they will sail around it and maybe change ports of call if necessary.

They can change us from West to East Carrib...take us to the South Carrib or Bermuda or the Bahamas...we don't care...we're just wanting to cruise!

Go to http://www.boatus.com/hurricanes/ and you will see a map of TS Cindy -- click below the map & see other maps -- the 5 day projection map will give you an idea of where the one in Gulf of Mexico is going. This one won't affect you!

 

Now for the other one (TS#4) in the Caribbean south of Puerto Rico. This is the one that could affect you this weekend. For that one, go to http://www.stormcarib.com and scroll down to yellow official report -- click on "four" and then click on "closest point" or "closest approach" -- from there you can select a caribbean island and see where the storm is projected to go -- for example, on this one check for distance from Grand Cayman or Cuba or Key West, and you can see a distance & time & a drawing.

All of the above. Although, rarely will they cancel a cruise. It just depends on the storm. They make decisions that are going to be best for everyones safety.

But know that the ship is much smaller than the storm. If the storm is large, the weather can be a problem many miles away.
