58Piano Posted September 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2013 We are going on Carnival Paradise. When we get to Grand Caymen what time are we on? We are trying to book a private stingray tour. Our ship says we are in port 8 am to 3 pm But the private tour company says local time is an hour different. So a 10 to 1 tour will not get us back in time. They said our last tender is at 1:15 So they gave us the 8:30 tour time. In the past I remember cruise ship changing the time to go with whatever time is correct the port you are in. Do they not do this now?
Ehpride Posted September 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2013 I've always had the ship stay on embarkation time.
wrigley80 Posted September 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2013 You always stay on SHIP TIME......even if it is a different time in port. As you leave the ship there will be a sign at the gangway that will tell you that....to always remain on ship time. The tours will alter the times of their tours to accommodate the cruisers that are in port for that day. I would contact the tour operator by e-mail and explain what time your ship is in port and what time will their tours operate on that day

Grand Cayman is -5 UTC year around, so it may be the same as Miami depending on whether or not it is DST. ALSO, Grand Cayman is NOT a tender port. They have a nice long pier. cherbear4000 Posted September 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2013 I just got back from a cruise on the Liberty that stopped in Grand Cayman. The ship stayed on EST the entire cruise. We never changed times. Grand Cayman was an hour earlier than the ship. Our private tour was at 11am local time or 12pm ship time. The times listed on the ship as being in port are on ship time. We were in port 10am-6pm ship time or 9am-5pm local time. Last tender is 45 minutes prior to departure.
58Piano Posted September 16, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted September 16, 2013 Thanks for your help. We went on Princess to the Western Carribbean. They changed the times to the port we were in. So I thought Carnvial would do that. But I guess they do not. Any idea how long it takes to get to the tender from the ship? I think its 15 minutes in the tender. I want to know what time get in line to leave the ship. Our tour is 8:30 am Grand Caymen time. So that would be 9:30 ship time.

But everybody is usually wanting to get off early and carnival excursions have priority. If you don't have fttf, I would get tender tickets as early as possible because There can be a wait for people on private excursions. I was toward the front of the line before the tickets were handed out and had to wait for several excursions to get on tenders. And that was a day when almost all the water excursions were cancelled due to rough water conditions.

Ehpride Posted September 16, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 16, 2013 or Costa Maya. I get the two mixed up. Cozumel has a real long pier too. And they always seem longer coming back to the ship!
