kteachcruiser52 Posted September 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2013 The price for our cruise went down $5 pp, but the fees and taxes went down $10.42 pp. When I called about a fare adjustment, they said I could not get credit for lower taxes and fees. I read on these boards that people do have to pay extra when taxes and fees go up. To me this doesn't make sense. It seems like it should work both ways. Can someone explain it to me. Thanks! The cruiselines normally don't charge you ifthe Taxes & Fees go up, and normally calculate the Final Taxes and Fees amount just before sailaway and credit your onboard account for any decrease. ken
kteachcruiser52 Posted September 17, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks for the information. We have cruised on Carnival and NCL and are looking forward to cruising on RC. We have heard the shows are great.

She said that although the price went down the taxes went up and actually wipes out the reduction and would make my cost even more. It doesn't make sense to me. What would anyone suggest I do. I don't want to pay more and I think she is taking the easy way out.

I can't speak for Royal, but I know that Carnival's Policy is that they do not collect any Taxes and fees increase, UNLESS you change the booking (as for a fare adjustment) prior to sailaway, at which time they do assess the Taxes and fees change. ken

galavant3 Posted September 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2013 In the past, we've just gotten credit on our account if the taxes go down. They make no adjustment if they go up.
