YET another drink package question - sorry!

Recommended Posts

This happened to me as well, they were adding an extra 15% gratuity onto my package. I sent an email and got this response (Jun 13, 2013)

Thank you for your email.

We cannot apologize enough for the extended delay in our response. More customers than ever before are choosing the convenience of email as their primary mode of communication. As a result, the turnaround time for responses has increased. Acknowledging that this level of service is unacceptable regardless of cause, we hope you will accept our apologies, and believe that this is not indicative of our normal operations. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We appreciate your interest in Royal Caribbean International and especially for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback regarding the price for the Premium Beverage Package. We sincerely regret to learn of any disappointment you may have experienced. Rest assured, the price has been corrected and will no longer be adding an additional 15% for gratuities. If you need any assistance making your Pre-Cruise Planner reservations and/or purchases, please contact one of our Pre-Cruise Planner Specialists at 1-800-398-9819, option 3. Our agents will be happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

Yep, sent it to PreCruisePlanner@rccl.com

My email read

Hello, your $55 premium drink package says "Package prices already include

gratuity. Any additional gratuitiesare at your discretion."

Yet when I go to purchase the package through the pre-cruise planner, it adds on an additional 15%. I do not understand why this is if the package already includes 15% grat, why am I getting another 15% grat charge? I am very interested in buying this package.

I've seen people report this problem about the website, and it looks to be a bug in their ordering system. You can either call and order the package, or just wait until you are on board. The price is the same online or on board.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sent an email and I received an email back from rccl stating that yes, it is a problem on their website and to check back often on my reservation for the change. Almost two weeks later the extra 15% is still being added to the $55/day for the permium drink package. I called twice last night to try and have it changed and pay for the package over the phone. Two phone calls, one lasted 47 minutes and the second lasted 35 minutes (kept getting disconnected) and no results even though the rccl website still states that the 15% gratuity is included in the $55/day charge. This is our first rccl cruise and we are really looking forward to it but customer service so far is so bad that I'm becoming nervous about our cruise. It's not even the money so much but bad customer service and a web-site that either has incorrect information or false advertising. I am extremely frustrated - does anyone have any advise as to what, if anything, I might try to do to fix this problem. I would rather not wait until we are on board because I don't want to waste precious time when we board should this still be a problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. We are cruising out of Bayonne on November 3rd. Thanks All!!!!!

hi all,

2nd cruise coming up, didnt really drink on the first one but want to be "Cruise drunk" for the entire week this time, i want to get the premium package for my GF and i however is this 15% a bill i will recieve at the end of the cruise?? because if so i will definatly not be buying the package, and there is so much contradicting evidence that its impossible to find out for sure if its just the flat $55 a day p/p or if this 15% lingers somewhere in the background ready to spoil your funds on the last day
