Getting to the New Orleans port from Hilton Riverside

What's the best way to get from the Hilton Riverside to the port? Is it walkable? Should we take a taxi? And is it true it's $35 for taxi to the port?

A cab would be $7 per person (fixed rate to the port).

 

It is walkable, if the weather cooperates and you aren't hauling a lot of luggage.

Very walkable. Go through the mall that runs along the riverside. A taxi has to go around.

The mall is called the River Walk and I think it may be closed for renovations right now. If you enter the port thru the parking lot of the River Walk it could be walking distance. The entrance for vehicle traffic is way too far to walk. Most people don't know about the entrance by the River Walk parking lot.

The mall is closed. I would not walk if you have luggage. Flat rate cab is the way to go.

We hopped on the trolley on my first cruise out of NOLA and we stayed at the Hilton. We are staying there again but will probably just take a cab.
