jwh Posted September 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Hi All, I know that Zaandam is scheduled for dry dock in the next week or so. Is anyone planning to cruise on her shortly afterwards? I would love to hear the changes and how she is looking. Am booked for the South America cruise in January and hoping for a fresh 'new' ship :)
jwh Posted October 1, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Bumping this in the hope someone soon to travel on Zaandam will respond.
Aruba Posted October 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2013 I'll be on her first sailing after dry dock, Oct 18-Nov 17, and can post my impressions.
jwh Posted October 1, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Thank you so much Aruba. I'll look forward to seeing your post. Have a fabulous cruise - any day at sea is better than a day at work!
Sopwith Posted October 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) With any kind of luck they won't cancel it and try to do critical work like replacing propeller shafts seals on the fly, like they did last year. Total disaster. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1724552&highlight=zaandam+nightmares Edited October 1, 2013 by Sopwith Inserted link. Aruba Posted October 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Considering that I'm leaving on Zaandam in 2 weeks, I think it might be too depressing to read that article... Edited October 1, 2013 by Aruba

Loreto Posted October 1, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2013 We will be on the same cruise as boulders and hope the "bugs" will have been worked out of the Zaandam post dry dock.:) After our Prinsendam experience last year right after dry dock, we saw how many things could go wrong. Karen

jwh Posted November 11, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Just wondering if you have any updates from your husband after the dry dock? Curious to know what was done and how the ship is looking now? Many thanks.
dreamerdick Posted November 18, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 18, 2013 I'd be interested in any comments as well, I sailed on her in April 2013 and she had a great friendly crew but there were things that needed attention. Her crew made up for any malfunctions though and I'd sail on her again in a heartbeat. I love her size and hope more are made in the future. Even in rough seas she was stable and gentle in movements. JohnCA Posted November 18, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 18, 2013 There's a post-drydock blog (not mine) here: http://snoopsistercruiser.wordpress.com/ Scan for the word "refit", but the most salient reads "The Zaandam looks good since her refit. However, there are still kinks being worked out".
