A few thoughts from Oct. 3 Ecstasy sailing

I went with my best friend and met about 15 other ladies for the Girls Getaway Cruise.

We had a room on Riviera and when we arrived, we found that about six or seven rooms including our's had standing water on the floor. There was a leaking pipe and they promised to fix it, suck up the water, shampoo the carpet and blow it dry, but we knew it would not dry and still smell like stagnant water so we requested to move rooms. The Guest Services desk said the ship was full, but they gave us two free drink tickets each and said come back as soon as we sailed and they could tell us if anyone didn't show up and they could move us. I went straight there after muster and sure enough, they found a new room for us. They escorted us to the new room to make sure we thought it was acceptable and moved all of our stuff for us. At dinner that night, they brought us a bottle of wine and they left chocolate covered strawberries in our cabin. The next day, we had a letter saying they apologized for the plumbing issue and they refunded one full day of our fare. I thought they went way overboard for something that was fixed within a few hours of us boarding the ship, but it was very nice and much appreciated.

Renting the Beach Villa at HMC was the best thing we ever did! We split the $500 cost between eight of us, paid for two more people to add on and had another six or eight people visiting us during the day. Even with all of those people, we had LOTS of food and sodas left over. We should not have paid for the two extra people. The villa was the perfect home base for the day. We were on the first tender there and the last one leaving and by far our favorite day of the cruise.

The family-friendly comedy show was plenty funny for us grown-ups.

These photographers were some of the best I've ever been around on land or sea. Really creative poses and good quality shots. I spent the whole credit I got for the plumbing issue on pictures.

Joseph, the Super-Charged Maitre De and his entire staff were fabulous in the MDR for dinner, but the crew in there for breakfast was AWEFUL!! Where were their happy smiles? They were rude, forgot half the things we ordered and no fun.

Overall, a great time was had by all and we would definitely do it again!

My mom and I were on the ship with you and had room R23. Our shower backed up twice and had to be fixed twice. They finally got it the second time around. Sounds like there were other issues than just a busted pipe.

We didn't have a bad experience at breakfast any day we were there, and the staff was always smiley and friendly. Must be just bad luck or timing?

My grandson and I were also on this cruise and had a wonderful time! I loved, loved, loved HMC! It was also my favorite day of the cruise even with the brief rain! I thought the service was really good and for the most part the dining room had good food. I only went to the dining room once for breakfast and I agree that the service was slow and unfriendly! My only complaint was the buffet food and choices. Much better buffet food on RCI and NCL. I wish I would have done the Cheers program and for those debating I think it would be worth the money since most drinks are $9 each. I loved the four day cruise and I would sail Carnival again but I do still prefer RCI.
