NCL Dawn Stateroom Categories

I booked a GTY stateroom on Priceline for a mid-ship balcony (BA) and it said decks 9-11.

I was assigned room 8036, which is on a lower deck and in the hull of the ship. The balcony appears to have limited view, and it is forward, and NOT mid-ship. I called NCL who cannot help me since I booked through Priceline, and Priceline said this is an upgrade to a Family Balcony (B3). The stateroom is exactly the same size, in a worse location, and worse view. How can that be an upgrade?!

Has anyone had experience getting their room moved or am I out of luck since its a GTY? This is my first cruise so not really sure...

Thanks!

Actually I don't know that you do have recourse. When you book a guarantee, you are booking for the selected category or higher.

According to the stateroom categories listed on NCL's website for the Dawn, the B3 is considered a higher level cabin than the BA.

Hope you can get them to not upgrade you!

according to NCL a B3 (family balcony) is a higher category than a BA. You booked a BA, so you got a "BA or Better".

Be aware that your cabin also is connecting to the one forward of you.

Any adjustment would have to be through price line ... i don't know what their policies are on changes after winning a bid.

Hi and welcome to CC - sorry that your first post is about this kind of thing!

As others have said, on NCL any category with number is higher than category with just letters.

Even I - having been a bit more experienced cruiser after more than month onboard in total and countless hours here on CC - did this exact same mistake when booking a GTY for the first and last time. For our cruise on Dawn's sister ship, Star, we booked OA GTY (all are in decent locations on deck 8) and got assigned a O1 from deck 5, right under the casino. We decided to pay for an upgrade to a better cabin and swore to never book GTY again.

Sorry you had to learn this the hard way too.
