patz Posted October 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Does anyone have a list of the codes (and what they mean) that are broadcast when there is a ship emergency?

Swayde Posted October 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Only ever heard codes called on one cruise. Code Bright Star 3 times on our Halloween cruise in 2011 aboard Inspiration. There were 3 major medical emergencies, at least one of them died. We had to reroute our course skipping Grand Cayman and hitting Costa Maya instead. We also had to have the coast guard airlift one of them. Felt so bad for the families involved.
2CoolCanucks Posted October 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2013 We had a medical emergency on board the Splendor this past week. The evacuation process by helicopter went so smoothly. We were so impressed with the way it was handled by the crews of both the Splendor and the Coast Guard. Here is a link to the video capturing it. (I did not film this video) Hopefully all went well with the ill passenger and family members involved. Many thoughts and prayers were with the persons involved during the process and those who watched gave applause as the maneuver was completed successfully.
