redhedgal Posted October 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2013 ....on Cruise Elegant night? I know that the dress code is dress casual to formal, and anything in between. I just wouldn't want to feel out of place by being one of just a few in a floor length formal. I have plenty of other less formal dresses that would be fine, I've just had this dress forEVER and only had the chance to wear it once, lol. What would you do? Thanks. oncruisecontrol Posted October 17, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2013 Looks like a nice outfit. Last year on the Freedom, we saw many people dressed to the nines on elegant night. In fact, while I was sitting at the casino bar on the promenade about 15 minutes before the early dinner seating was about to start, I saw many people in gowns and calf-length cocktail dresses as well as dark suits and a few tuxes. dixieva Posted October 17, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 17, 2013 Looks nice so go for it! I gave up on dresses for formal night a few years ago. Bought a nice pair of dressy black pants and a few sparkly tops. Packs great, no stockings required and I wear a pair of nice flat black sandals which double on casual nights with capris. Cuts out a pair of shoes! And the pants are long so no one really sees my shoes anyway.
LittleJeanne Posted October 17, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 17, 2013 I almost always pack a full length formal for elegant night. I think that the only time that my husband didn't take his tux was when we did a 3 night cruise out of California. We both dressed a little more casual for that trip. We started cruising when it was called formal night and still treat it as such. Despite what many here would lead you to believe, many still dress for dinner. Although most don't stay in their dressy clothes all evening like they used to do.

redhedgal Posted October 17, 2013 Author #20 Share Posted October 17, 2013 So many replies so quickly! Thanks everyone! You guys are great! I guess it's pretty much unanimous so far, lol. Now I just have to convince my hubby that we should go this formal. He wears suits every week though, so that shouldn't be a problem. BTW....we are sailing out of Galveston on the Magic, Jan 26th. 101 days!!! Almost to double digits!!
