Hotel rates

I learned a lesson in economics. I booked a pre-cruise hotel in Amsterdam

thru Hotel.com. in which I pre-paid 188 USD per night. When I checked out

the hotel gave me a bill for 108 euros/day (about $133). When I asked about the difference they couldn't or wouldn't explain. When I called Hotel.com their agent said that the difference was their markup. Quite a large markup ! A lesson learned but not repeated.

That's a bunch of cheap bull****. This happened to one of my co-workers through hotels.com. You should never trust those sites who offer "great!" deals. Either book with the hotel, a reputable travel agency, or a really good online site (like Expedia or Travelocity).

Something I learned after checking prices thru various discount entities. Get their lowest price to determine what hotel/airline, etc. is offering the best rate. Then I go directly to the hotel/airline and get a "lower" rate because they then do not have to pay a commission.
