Gayle V Posted October 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Is it still allowed to bring one bottle of wine onboard with you, or has that been discontinued?
Ken at the beach Posted October 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2013 2 750ml bottles per cabin are allowed.
Gayle V Posted October 27, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks Ken. We've never bothered with it before, but my son and DIL are coming this time, and they'll likely want to take advantage of this.
tpredmore Posted October 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Bring the two bottle in your carry-on luggage, otherwise you will get a note from Security telling you that they found alcohol in your checked baggage. Then you have to open up the bag and show them that it's wine before they let you take your bag. We don't want the bags delayed or to spend time sorting that out. Thanks.
Sinppu Posted October 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2013 If you have two cabins, you can bring 4 bottles. This is aimed at consuming them in the cabin though. If you take them to a dining venue, there'll be a corkage fee of $25 (I think?)

Corkage fee is hit or miss and only seems to apply if you take your bottle and have them open in in the dining room and even that varies ship to ship and sailing to sailing. Fill your glass in your cabin and take it anywhere on the ship and you will be fine. We take a glass to dinner and have never been charged a corkage fee. lorrdean Posted October 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 27, 2013 are the wine glasses already in your cabin? or do we ask our cabin steward for some?
peteukmcr Posted October 27, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 27, 2013 are the wine glasses already in your cabin? or do we ask our cabin steward for some? Either ask your cabin steward or go to the nearest bar as I did last week and ask for a couple of glasses and they'll happily provide them. This is what DW and I do, as we bring a small cork screw with us. We pour in the room, then take to MDR.
dc67 Posted October 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2013 It's hit or miss if you will be charged a corkage fee. We had four bottles from two cabins on Enchantment in March and were never charged and then had three bottles on Grandeur in October and were charged in the speciality restaurants, but not in the MDR. Esahuma Posted October 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 28, 2013 We go to 'gifts and gear' order the least expensive bottle of wine - have it delivered to our cabin the first day - it is there with 2 wine glasses and an opener! Voila! Solved! Also we always order the wine package and order a bottle or two off our list and take the rest to the cabin for the next day!
