MichelleChell Posted October 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2013 Just keep in mind that deck 5 has the hot tubs and people can walk around the whole ship outside on that level too. We like deck 8 and higher. So that we are not so close to 5 that people can chat with us. We also stay midship close to the middle stairs. 2 decks up to Lido food and pool. A few decks down for other things,
cruise_girl2002 Posted October 31, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2013 I had room 6211 on the magic which was the 3rd balcony from the front on the right side...GREAT room and VERY private. I also had room 11249 which was near the elevators and 10208 the very most forward room on the magics sister ship, Dream. All are great rooms. We didn't care for the deck 11 spa cabins. We liked the location of 12014 and 12016.

bigman01 Posted October 31, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2013 we usually get lido balconies, but this is our first time on the magic and it is so big. we were wondering what others thought. thanks for your opinion!!! I'm going on Magic for the 3rd time in a few weeks. And for the 3rd time, I have a Lido balcony. If you spend a lot of time on the Lido deck, either for the pool, the food or whatever, then Lido balconies are VERY convenient. If you plan on spending a lot of time on deck 5 (where the casino, Lanai, karaoke, shops and varous other things are), then maybe a Lido balcony isn't so convenient. But for me, I doubt if I'll ever stay anywhere but on the Lido deck again. I love the location myself!
jburk Posted October 31, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2013 Loved magic. Best vacation ever. Pretty sure we were on deck 6. We had an interior but inlaws had a balcony. I remember being on their balcony and could see EVERYthing in the deck below. I said to myself I would never book a balcony on that deck. Lots of loungers right under the balcony and people on the deck below all the time. Pretty sure it was deck 6. But overall great ship! Best cruise so far! MichelleChell Posted October 31, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 31, 2013 Our room was very close to the mid elevators and we didn't have a noise problem at all.
MichelleChell Posted October 31, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 31, 2013 princess ships are tiered, i didn't know that the magic was also, is it??? Deck 5 sticks out further yes. Has hot tubs, loungers, Red Frog Pub and what not on it. If you go to Carnival.com you can pull up a ship map. I didn't have a problem with looking down from deck 8 and seeing deck 5. Just look out a bit further and it's water. Sitting on the balcony I would forget it's down there.
karinski Posted October 31, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 31, 2013 Was on the Dream last year and had a cove balcony......it was awesome!! They did wind up sealing our door the last day and kept it sealed on our extra day at sea. Considering the fact that people were getting water on their balcony on deck 11, we didn't mind at all! lol! We were behind hurricane sandy and could not pull into port. Booked Magic for this spring and are getting another cove! Being so close to the water is amazing! We saw a ton of flying fish and its very private. If you want some sun...you should go higher....they are under the lifeboats which usually blocks the sun. Being on deck 2, it is VERY easy to disembark on port days and the lower you go, the less movement.
CruisinCarps Posted October 31, 2013 #17 Share Posted October 31, 2013 Also, there are some youtube videos if you want to see what it would look like if you stayed in a balcony right above Deck 5. We were originally in a Deck 6 balcony until I saw those videos. People can see right onto your balcony, let alone right into your room from those hot tubs especially from the Lanai area!! (We had only sailed one other line before, so I didn't know about the fact that Magic, and some others have that deck that sticks out.) About 51 seconds in, if you pause, when she is where the hot tubs are, you can see right into the rooms: Anyways, it depends on what matters to you. Privacy matters to us, when out on the balcony. (I mean we aren't getting 'nekkid' out there. ;)) So we decided to switch to a cove balcony. We also like being able to look down to the water and not people walking around, etc. so the cove was a better fit for us. (However, going higher up, like the 8th level or so, wouldn't be that big of a deal either.) Video of cove balcony: Also, do you smoke? Smoking is NOT allowed on any spa balconies. (It is allowed on other balconies though.) We might try one of these next time. But I am excited to try the cove as well. :)

EnTnSA Posted October 31, 2013 #22 Share Posted October 31, 2013 We have been on the Magic twice, each time in a cove balcony, and loved it. I would say that you should probably avoid the cove balconies in the very back of the ship as the kitchen is right above them and really noisy ALL NIGHT… Those guys work in that kitchen until at least 3am, and start up again around 5am…and it sounds as if they are bowling with pots and pans all night.

The room itself was awesome, love being close to the water.
