Hows the Casino itself?

Were there daily Texas Hold Em Poker games going on?

How was the Wifi on the cruise?

MUTS was a little chilly(Alaska in early May). I think we had four or five of those wispy blankets that they offer, and we were wrapped like burritos. Couple that with us going through the fog that particular evening and the horn sounding every ten minutes....Let me just state that it was a little distracting for getting all of the audio for the flick. At least the movie was visually interesting("The Life of Pi").

Overall the cruise and ship was good, though we are pretty active and sail based on port itinerary as much as anything else. While on the ship, we are pretty easy to please, and usually happy to just be cruising. However, I did notice that the food in both the MDR and Horizon seemed a little left to be desired compared to our previous Fr. Poly cruise.

I can't say much too positive about the casino, as most of the slots are pretty tight. We played a little bit, but no real success stories. The slots at either end play OK though. They're the ones with all the bells and whistles(Chinese symbols on rolls) that face the entrances. I never found myself winning too much on them, but they seemed to pay enough/often enough so that a person could play for quite a while spinning wheels(pun intended).

IIRC there were some scheduled poker tourney sessions, but it's such a time commitment for only a 7-day. I could however see committing to one on a cruise with a lot of consecutive sea days.

Bingo on the other hand was pretty nice. DW won a game in one of the earlier sessions (a couple hundred IIRC) and I........Well I won the blackout large jackpot at the last session:D.

Hi, Just got back from Star November 5th. Great Cruise! Lots of Hawaii themed stuff going on. Elua (Hawaiian duo) were fantastic! Food was good, dining room menus have Hawaiian themed items each night (marked with a little pineapple). Only went to casino one night (won $$ on slots) The International Cafe was a favourite, both from a food and service standpoint. Service throughout the ship was excellent, happy crew. Have fun on your cruise, wish I was going with you:)
