Mystaken Posted November 14, 2013 #201 Share Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Reney, thanks for posting this thread. I just spent the last half hour or so catching up on the changes to the drink packages, and while there is still some confusion on a few points, they look to be positive changes as well as more options. One negative, if it turns out to be true, is getting charged whatever amount exceeds the $10 or $12 cap. For example, if you have the package and order a $12 mixed drink, you're charged $2. Maybe that was true on the older version of the package, but if so I wasn't aware. I knew certain wines and liquors were not included, but did not know of any $ limits. I wonder if this is an indication that drink prices are going to be raised? Sorry we have gotten off topic hear. I am loving the review, and especially the pictures! Rare niksmom630 Posted November 14, 2013 Author #205 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Thank you for the pictures. We've been on several cruises, but not on the Oasis class yet. We will be on the Allure for the December 1 sailing. Our impressions of the ships have come from the brochures. But they really don't show the size and the interiors as your pictures have done. We were anxious already, but now we are really chomping at the bit. Thank you also for the movie names. Of course they can change by the time we go, but we were wondering how current they were. We have racing fans and Indianapolis natives in our group, so we are hoping they will show Turbo. Were those the only 2 movies for the week, or just the ones for that day and they will have others during the week? Enjoy your cruise. Thanks for the pictures. Please keep them coming. Rare niksmom630 Posted November 14, 2013 Author #207 Share Posted November 14, 2013 I'm back!! Sorry for the delay, it's been a hectic morning, and I'm just now getting everything up in photobucket. I believe I left off on my mini-rant about the screaming children on our neighboring balcony. Thankfully, someone gathered up the little rug rats and peace and quiet ensued. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but screaming and running belong on a playground, not a ship balcony. Departing st. Thomas last evening.... Rare niksmom630 Posted November 14, 2013 Author #208 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Ok, so I don't take pictures of my food. Not that I don't absolutely enjoy food porn, but I just feel a bit stupid taking pictures of it. However, nothing really appealed to me on the MDR menu last night, so I decided to order the lobster tail for a fee. HOLY cow! It was huge, and my traveling companions thought so too, so it seemed a decent excuse to snap a picture...I wound up splitting this with DD, and it was plenty for both of us This was some praline chocolate dessert. It looked better than it tasted, but I ate it all anyway.... After dinner we headed to the casino for a bit, and for the first time this week, the casino didn't rob me of DD's college fund! Nothing like a straight flush at the three card poker table to brighten one's spirits. Regarding the drink package inquiries... We did not get it, but our friends did. They still have to present their sea pass card and sign a slip every time. We will be assessing our bill after the cruise to see if it's something we would consider for our next cruise. If water is included in a modded drink package, it would probably be worth it for us...
Rare niksmom630 Posted November 14, 2013 Author #209 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Nicksmom... I printed the picture of the dining table you sent (I am so grateful to you for that!)...I placed the picture under their dinner plate as a place mat for my twins... They were trying to figure out what it was... My daughter guessed first and they both had so much fun with it! My children have only been to DW and are jumping with excitement for our upcoming trip. I think my son is a bit intimidated by the water... I really appreciate your taking the time to get that picture... very VERY sweet of you! I have shared all your fabulous pictures and told them what you are experiencing on your sailing and we are all excited for our upcoming trip. The kids were curious if it was strange for your DD to climb the rock wall, being on a ship...with all the water around.... my son with the water ..haha Thank you for sharing your vacation with us! I'm glad the picture worked out for you! I think your son will find this rock climbing wall less intimidating than on other royal ships, because it's actually a bit more interior, since it's located a deck above the boardwalk. Actually, it would be fairly easy to avoid looking at the water if you wanted to on this ship. Hope you have a wonderful cruise!
Rare niksmom630 Posted November 14, 2013 Author #210 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Woke up at 430 am today...sheesh, for the love of God, why can't I sleep in!!!!!! I guess I'm afraid of missing something. I'm so glad I woke up when I did, because I got to see this.... And the second rainbow I have seen this week.....feeling pretty luck right now. Hope this translates into a profitable night in the casino!!
Rare niksmom630 Posted November 14, 2013 Author #211 Share Posted November 14, 2013 I had planned to go to Maho Beach on this cruise. Well, I so enjoyed the day yesterday being on an almost empty ship, that I decided I needed a repeat today. I figured I'll see Maho at some point. I did promise DD we'd go into town to do a bit of shopping though, so after a quick breakfast in the MDR, we headed off to St.Maarten...... This morning..... Pulling in next the the Princess ship.... Whomever engineered this vessel made a major faux pas......can you say obstructed view anyone?? More of St. Maarten coming up shortly....

melis74 Posted November 14, 2013 #214 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Still loving your review and pictures, thank you so much for sharing!! Question - If you have a moment could you tell me how much they are charging on ship for the digital photo packages. I've heard you save money by purchasing them in advance, which is currently: $369.95 for all digital photos/$469.95 for all digital photos and prints. Thank you so much!! Enjoy! What will we be able to do the rest of the time? Just kidding. First time on Oasis class for us. I think we will find plenty to do. Who knows, we might not even make the movies. Thanks for the information. Gordon

happicruzer Posted November 15, 2013 #219 Share Posted November 15, 2013 Do you get table assignments before you arrive on the ship? Sent from my XT897 using Forums mobile app No. Your sea pass will have the table number printed number on it. I usually go to the dining room and wander around until I find the table - if numbers are on them - or ask a waiter working nearby for help. That way, I 'know' where to go and - while it hasn't happened that I'd hate the table location, it gives me the opportunity to try for a table in a 'better' position if I wanted a change in either size or location. Used to opt for a large table but got tired of sitting at an 8-10 top when only 2 showed up.

Actually, you can email the dining room prior to your cruise to make a request for a specific table size or location. It may or may not be granted, but in our case, I emailed two weeks prior to our cruise with my request for a table of 8, by a window, and it was granted! loyalroyal17 Posted November 15, 2013 #221 Share Posted November 15, 2013 LOVE following along on your cruise on my favorite ship! It's probably because we upgraded to a jr. suite. just before our cruise, so all that extra space made it extra special. Hope the rainbow gave you luck in the casino. I do believe in signs. When my husband lost his work Ipad in the middle of a busy street this past weekend and we realized it an hour and a half later and found it in perfect working order and not run over, we took it as a sign to play keno. But we had no luck. Still felt very lucky because of his Ipad being found. Hopefully you had good luck in the casino. Enjoy the rest of your cruise! We board the Enchantment on 1/20 after a week in Vegas and can't wait for vacation!!!!!!!!! Celeste

loyalroyal17 Posted November 15, 2013 #223 Share Posted November 15, 2013 I just read they are going to fix the Allure the week of February 24, 2014. There was speculation that they would take Oasis's dry dock time in the fall 2014, but I didn't think they would wait that long to fix Allure. Good for Royal!!!
